RNH to the rescue, Oilers edge Bolts
On the strength of a two point effort from Taylor Hall and a late third period winner off the stick of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the Edmonton Oilers finally managed to put an end to their five game losing skid to start the 2014-15 season, edging Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 3-2 over at Rexall Place on Monday night.

Edmonton - October 21, 2014 - On the strength of a two point effort from Taylor Hall and a late third period winner off the stick of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the Edmonton Oilers finally managed to put an end to their five game losing skid to start the 2014-15 season, edging Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 3-2 over at Rexall Place on Monday night.

For the second consecutive outing, netminder Ben Scrivens was solid in between the pipes and for the first time this season, actually had a few bounces go his way. After a pair of underwhelming performances from Dallas Eakins’ squad in both Los Angeles and Arizona, this group has now rebounded with strong efforts against the Bolts and Vancouver Canucks in back-to-back outings on home-ice.

While the top line of Jordan Eberle, Hall and Nugent-Hopkins led the way upfront and the duo of Mark Fayne and Martin Marincin were the Oilers best duo along the blueline, there was the curious lack of ice-time for one Nail Yakupov. Despite playing a solid game at both ends of the rink and appearing to be engaged from his very first shift, the young Russian played all of 10:47 on the night…which was the fewest minutes played by any player on either team.

With that said, we have decided to add a new feature to the site which will not only give fans the opportunity to rate the performance of each and every player who was wearing an Orange and Blue uniform the night before but also the chance to have their say in the comments section below. As an added bonus, we have decided to add Dallas Eakins into the equation to allow all of you to voice your opinions, good or bad, when it comes to both the players on the ice and the man standing behind the Oilers bench.

It’s your call…give them a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
