What’s in a number? A listing of new numbers for NHL players
Every off season there are a number of free agent signings and players who switch teams. For those of you who have read this column before, you will know that I have always had an interest in what number the new player to a given team is going to wear. Mark Fraser will now wear number 2 in Toronto as he gave up 45 for Jonathan Bernier. Does Bernier owe him dinner? Buy him a watch? A nice bottle of wine?

Stoney Point - August 10, 2013 - Every off season there are a number of free agent signings and players who switch teams. For those of you who have read this column before, you will know that I have always had an interest in what number the new player to a given team is going to wear.

I also wish we were told what a player had to “give up” to get a certain number from an existing player. For example, Mark Fraser will now wear number 2 in Toronto as he gave up 45 for Jonathan Bernier. Does Bernier owe him dinner? Buy him a watch? A nice bottle of wine?
