TIMEOUT - Will the Toronto Maple Leafs make the playoffs in 2014-15?
In this week's installment of 30 Second Timeout we asked the following question: Phil Kessel believes the Maple Leafs can return to the playoffs in 2014-15. Do you think the Leafs will make it? Our columnists are split 60-40, with the majority believing that they will be on the outside looking in. What do you think?

Stoney Point - August 6, 2014 - In this week's installment of 30 Second Timeout we asked the following question: Phil Kessel believes the Maple Leafs can return to the playoffs in 2014-15. Do you think the Leafs will make it?

Phillip Blancher - With Randy Carlyle as coach, the Toronto Maple Leafs have as much chance of making the playoffs in the 2014-15 season as the Buffalo Sabres.

Shaun Maddex - I think the Leafs have made some solid additions to their roster, and they seem to be making positive moves overall. If Bernier has a great year, and Carlyle doesn't hamper his offensive stars and younger players then I believe Toronto has a real shot to make it.

Chris Savard - I believe the Maple Leafs will make the playoffs in 2014-15. If the Leafs can avoid the dreaded prolonged losing streak that has hurt them in recent seasons, then they will compete for a top three spot in the Atlantic Division. Phil Kessel finished sixth in league scoring and he continues to be a key component to Toronto’s success. Look for Jonathan Bernier and Dion Phaneuf to have better seasons this year. Combine that with the off-season line-up changes and the new culture that Brandon Shanahan will bring to the Blue and White and that should be enough to get a team that was close last year into the post season.

Rob Soria - Anything is possible in the Eastern Conference but I can't see it. The Maple Leafs roster is arguably worse than it was in 2013-14 and while playing a different "style of game" may help to a certain degree, they do not have the necessary horses to play a better all around game. The lineup is flawed with too many holes and Toronto will struggle mightily because of it. Again, with the East being loaded with mediocre teams the Leafs will stay in the mix all season long but ultimately come up short of qualifying for the post-season.

Ryan Womeldorf - No chance. The organization is still a mess and they didn't really do anything to get better. Unless Kessel drags them into the playoffs himself, it's going to take a few changes before the Leafs make their way back into the post season.
