Spitfires topple Erie to win Season Opener
The Windsor Spitfires launched their road to the Memorial Cup season with a 4-1 win over the Erie Otters in front of 5,418 fans at the WFCU Centre. Shaun Bily opened the scoring for Erie at 8:53 of the first period. It was all Spitfires from there on with goals from Cole Carter, Cole Purboo and Aaron Luchuk to give the home team a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. Hayden McCool rounded out the scoring for the home squad in the third period.

The Spits were without a number of players who are currently attending NHL Training Camps including first round picks Logan Brown, Logan Stanley and Mikhail Sergachev.

The three stars were Luchuk, Carter and Luke Boka

The Spits will look to go 2-0 on Friday when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the Greyhounds.
