Dermott to miss start of next season for Maple Leafs
Travis Dermott will be sidelined for the start of next season for the Toronto Maple Leafs because of shoulder surgery. The procedure, scheduled for Friday, is expected to keep him out for a minimum of six months.

Toronto - May 11, 2019 - Travis Dermott will be sidelined for the start of next season for the Toronto Maple Leafs because of shoulder surgery.

The procedure, scheduled for Friday, is expected to keep him out for a minimum of six months.

The 22-year-old defenseman had 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 64 games in his second NHL season despite missing a month with a shoulder injury. He had three points (one goal, two assists) in Toronto's seven-game loss to the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference First Round.

Dermott, selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round (No. 34) of the 2015 NHL Draft, has 30 points (five goals, 25 assists) in 101 games, and four points (two goals, two assists) in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
