TSN airs embarrassing tweet about Lupul and Phaneuf

Toronto - March 2, 2015 - NHL Trade Deadline coverage can often be painful to watch. Today, TSN learned that sometimes headlines can be trumped by tweets from a viewer. TSN needed to issue an apology when an inappropriate tweet made it live to their #tradecentre ticker on the bottom of the screen. Anthony Adragna (@AdragnaA21) tweeted a comment about Toronto Maple Leafs players Joffrey Lupul and Dion Phaneuf (see photo).

The tweet made its way to Joffrey Lupul, who took a shot at TSN (see below).

Adragna stated on his twitter feed that his follower numbers immediately grew by 100 followers, and counting. TSN issued an apology via their twitter feed. (see below).

This follows closely on the panel getting punked by Denis Wideman and the Calgary Flames. TSN was providing live coverage of the Flames practice in Philadelphia when coach Bob Hartley took a phone call while on the ice. From there, he had a conversation with Wideman.

The fact that TSN was recording all of this was not lost on Wideman, who grabbed a phone from a staff member and put it to his ear and skated off the ice. That lead to full-blown speculation that Wideman may be on his way out of Calgary.

When asked about it, Wideman quipped that TSN certainly wasn’t shy to keep playing his poor shootout attempt. Good for Wideman!!!

So far, these two items have been the most interesting part of today’s trade deadline coverage.
