Lancaster - Jul. 14, 2011 - Last Thursday, the Ontario Minister of Research and Innovation Minister, Glen Murray, stated at a funding announcement that “ Money is coming back to you today and we have to raise taxes to do that.” When is enough, enough? Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals treat the hard-working Ontario families as a piggy bank. They dole out our money to every special-interest group and return to the bank for more.

This practice is not only dangerous, but it has brought the average Ontario worker and our great province to its knees. These taxes, along with massive over-regulation, are making our businesses uncompetitive and forcing them to close their doors or to move next door. Since taking over government less than eight years ago, Dalton McGuinty has increased government spending by 77%, doubled Ontario’s debt, and instituted policies that have allowed hydro costs to soar, projecting them to increase a further 47% by 2015. We can’t afford his reckless spending any more. We need change and the Tim Hudak Progressive Conservative will deliver this change, as laid out in the Changebook platform.

With just over six weeks left until the writ is dropped, which officially starts the election campaign, we still have not seen the Liberal platform. One would think that the Liberals should be proud to put their plan out for the Ontario voter to review and evaluate. Is the delay to do with the Dalton McGuinty’s record of grandiose promises made during campaigns that are quickly broken once elected? He knows that the Ontario voter has not forgotten his two previous election promises – he promised not to raise taxes. Citizens of Ontario remember the ‘no tax increase’ contract he signed with the Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation before the 2003 election. He knows that he is not forgiven for his court challenge to show that he was not legally required to fulfill this contract. Now the ‘Court of Public Opinion’ will rule and people can show that they are fed up with his empty promises and that they want change.

This October, we need to bring change to the province of Ontario. A Tim Hudak Progress Conservative government will bring that change and put money back in the pockets of hard working Ontario families. We need your support and help to ensure we have a Tim Hudak Progressive Conservative government on October 6, 2011.
