Students at Montague Public School in Smiths Falls will enjoy a “Snuggle Up and Read Program” on Friday from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The event will allow the students’ parents and grandparents to read to their family members and be read to.

In the afternoon Principal Jennifer Moore will make the rounds to each classroom to share her favourite books with the students. At the end of the day, teachers will rotate through each classroom in the school to share with each class their favourite children's stories. The students are then encouraged to go home after school and share with their parents the story they heard at school that was their favourite.

At The Stewart School in Perth, staff and students will enjoy the “Journey to Learning.” Students will rotate between different classroom “countries” where they will enjoy literacy based activities. Students at Carambeck Public School in Carleton Place will be engaged in a Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) event following the school’s Student of the Month Celebration Assembly.

The theme for the day is Animals in Winter. Staff members at South Crosby Public School in Elgin have a variety of activities planned for students throughout the day. In the morning, visitors such as Rideau District High School Principal Sharon Halladay and a local artist will be sharing some of their favourite picture books with South Crosby’s primary classes. In the afternoon, the school has invited families to join their children to participate in a number of literacy activities. The primary students will be listening to stories, making crafts, following a recipe and reading with older students. The junior students will be participating in The Amazing Literacy Race in which students will participate in a variety of literacy focused activities. The school has also set aside time for a RAFT (Read Anything for Twenty) event. Everyone in the school will be reading for 20 minutes at the same time.
