Unacceptable that 44,000 students are stuck waiting for special education supports - Gretzky
NDP Education Critic Lisa Gretzky released the following statement in response to People for Education’s Annual Report: Today’s report from People for Education is a clear warning that our students are paying the price for the Liberals’ cuts to education. It’s completely unacceptable that 44,000 students are stuck waiting for special education supports, some schools are still fundraising for textbooks, and Aboriginal students do not have access to the cultural support and educational opportunities they need

Toronto - June 9, 2015 - NDP Education Critic Lisa Gretzky released the following statement in response to People for Education’s Annual Report:

“Today’s report from People for Education is a clear warning that our students are paying the price for the Liberals’ cuts to education. It’s completely unacceptable that 44,000 students are stuck waiting for special education supports, some schools are still fundraising for textbooks, and Aboriginal students do not have access to the cultural support and educational opportunities they need. But instead of fixing the real problems in our schools, the Liberals are making them even worse by cutting half-a-billion dollars from education and refusing to negotiate new deals with education workers that protect small class sizes.

“Our schools are built on the promise of helping every student achieve their full potential. But after today’s report, the Liberals can no longer bury their heads in the sand and deny the impact that Kathleen Wynne’s deep cuts will have on students across the province. The facts show that this out-of-touch Liberal government has turned its back on students and will only create more chaos in our classrooms by ignoring the most serious needs in our schools.”
