Toronto - October 4, 2017 - Winters in Canada can get very cold, but this is not something that Canadians tend to worry about. They embrace the cold weather and never shy away from it, preferring to get outdoors whenever they can instead of staying inside. If a winter vacation in Canada is something that appeals to you, then you may want to consider one of these top five winter destinations.

Calgary

Calgary's popularity as a winter vacation destination grew in the late 1980s when it hosted the Winter Olympics in 1988. There is still a legacy from these Olympics today in the form of the WinSport facility where you can take part in a whole range of winter sports. Whether you are feeling competitive or just want to take part in an activity with your family, there will be something here for you to enjoy. One of the most popular attractions at the facility is the bobsleigh and this is something that the whole family can take part in.

Banff

Banff is located with the Rocky Mountains and is a popular skiing destination. There are many different ski resorts here that are quite close to each other so you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to picking a resort. The terrain is quite varied here which makes it a destination that is more suited to experienced skiers. Even though this is a very popular destination for skiers, most of the trails are very open. This means that you usually have a lot of space to yourself on the slopes and you don't have to worry about getting in the way of others or them getting in the way of you.

Quebec City

Quebec City has over 400 centimeters of snow every winter and this really transforms the city. The city starts preparing for the holiday season in early December and the Christmas lights brighten up the whole city in the same way that the graphics of 7Sultans Canadian casino light up the screen of your mobile or tablet. There are also Christmas concerts which take place all over the city and many of these are free to attend. The Carnaval de Quebec is another highlight and this is the biggest winter carnival in the world. Highlights of the carnival include the igloo building competition and ice carving.

Ottawa

Ottawa is a great city and it becomes even more beautiful during winter, particularly in the months of January and February. One of the most famous attractions is the ice rink on the Rideau Canal which measures almost 8km in length. This makes it the largest ice rink in the world and over 1 million people skate on the Canal in the two months that the ice rink is in place. Winterlude is another event that is very popular in Ottawa for visitors to the city and this takes place throughout most of February. A range of activities takes place during Winterlude including hockey tournaments and ice skating lessons.

Whistler

The last destination on our list is Whistler. Whistler is home to some of the best skiing resorts in the whole of North America. There are over 200 ski runs and so you are sure to find a slope for you whatever your level of experience. It is also a very family friendly resort and it is a good place to introduce children to skiing if it is something that they have never done before. There is a large mountain community in Whistler with bars and restaurants so there is much more to do than just skiing. It can be very relaxing to sit at one of the bars that has a view of the slopes and play at 7Sultans casino while watching the skiers.
