Lakeshore - January 22, 2019 - The Town of Lakeshore permits Off-Road Vehicles (ORV’s, also known as All Terrains Vehicles, ATV’s) on certain municipal roads in the communities of Stoney Point and Lighthouse Cove. ORV’s will be permitted between 7 am and 10 pm from December 1 to April 30. ORV’s are not allowed on sidewalks, trails or walking paths. A copy of By-law 65-2017 can be found of the Town’s website which lists the boundaries.

Roads which fall under the jurisdiction of the County of Essex (such as County Road 39) as well as private roads are not included.

Ontario legislation regulates operator and vehicle requirements as well as rules of the road for ORV’s. It is the operator’s responsibility to be familiar with and follow all applicable laws and regulations. The link below will direct you to the Ministry of Transportation website for regulations:

Lakeshore encourages responsible ORV operations so that individuals can enjoy the outdoors and amenities the Town has to offer. The Town strongly urges operators to check the ice before venturing onto any waterway.
