Toronto - May 20, 2019 - Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP Education critic, released the following statement in response to news that Doug Ford’s education cuts have forced the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) to cancel 734 course sections:

“Our kids continue to pay the price for Doug Ford’s education cuts as we learned yesterday that the cuts are forcing the TDSB to cancel hundreds of course sections. The Ford Conservatives are ripping opportunities right out of the hands of Toronto high-school students, who will have access to fewer options for elective courses and fewer sections for compulsory courses. And cutting the number of sections for compulsory courses means the classes that remain on the schedule will be too jam-packed for teachers to give any students one-on-one support when they need it. It’s time for the Conservatives to acknowledge that fewer teachers and larger class sizes will hurt our kids and reverse course on their education cuts.”
