South Dundas - May. 15, 2012: Let’s call these wage freezes McGuinty wants by the real name for them, another “Social Contract”. Remember Bob Rae’s infamous 1993 wage freeze and unpaid “Rae Days”, to help curb the tide against Ontario’s then-record $12.4 billion deficit. Rae’s plan was a kick in the proverbial groin for Ontario’s public sector unions and no one was left who wasn’t smarting a little from the pain of those cuts. Front line health care, education, service delivery, you name it; everything and everyone were affected.

Strathmore - May. 15, 2012: Barack Obama has come out in favour of gay marriage. Not because he actually believes in it, but because he needs votes and money from gay organizations. I wonder if gays in America feel used?

Cornwall - Jan. 24, 2012: The January 23rd meeting of Council heard a proposal from the Waterfront Development Committee about developing a piece of land between the Civic Complex and Marina 200. In less than a week, I’ve received dozens of comments, calls and e-mails about this on both sides of the discussion.

Cornwall - Mar. 7, 2012: There has been a lot of justified concern about "bullying" especially in the schools and "social networks". Generally, the schools have been taking heat about it but I picked up a story recently about a school and especially a Principal who handled it so well it bears repeating.

Cornwall - Feb. 20, 2012: The City of Cornwall has just celebrated Family Day and another successful Storm Realty Winterfest celebration. Lamoureux Park and the Cornwall Civic Complex were both alive with activity and smiling faces this past weekend! To the volunteer organizers of Winterfest who gave so freely of their time and spent countless hours working hard to make a difference for the residents of our region…THANK YOU!
