This weekend will mark the inaugural Run For Rocky, honouring the memory of Windsor’s Rocky Campana. The son of Rob and Nancy Campana, Rocky was a young gay man, who died last summer. By all accounts, he was a fine young man, who lit up a room when he walked in. Unknown to many, was the fact that he was fighting a battle with Depression, and in August 2012, Rocky took his own life.

Windsor - April 12, 2013 - This weekend will mark the inaugural “Run For Rocky”, honouring the memory of Windsor’s Rocky Campana. The son of Rob and Nancy Campana, Rocky was a young gay man, who died last summer. By all accounts, he was a fine young man, who lit up a room when he walked in. Unknown to many, was the fact that he was fighting a battle with Depression, and in August 2012, Rocky took his own life.

Rocky was excited by the fact that the Ontario government had introduced the Gay Straight Alliance program into high schools across the province, to make it easier for young people to deal with coming out. His mom Nancy said that he wanted people to be kind to each other, to accept each other for who they are, and to understand that there are hardships associated with being gay. In association with Windsor Pride, the “Run For Rocky” will take place Sunday, April 14th, at 1:00 PM at Dieppe Gardens. Funds raised will be used to increase awareness of the GSA, and to help gay youth. Following the run, there will be an After Party at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts, running from 2-4 PM.
