Male pedestrian struck by vehicle on Sandwich Street
On Thursday July 20, 2012 at approximately 12:15 a.m. Windsor Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Sandwich Street for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival officers observed a 21 year old male victim laying on the sidewalk bleeding from his head.

Windsor - July 20, 2012 - On Thursday July 20, 2012 at approximately 12:15 a.m. Windsor Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Sandwich Street for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival officers observed a 21 year old male victim laying on the sidewalk bleeding from his head.

Fire and EMS were tending to the male. The male was stabilized and transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital. Police learned that the vehicle that struck the victim had fled the scene Eastbound. The vehicle was described as a black Nissan. A black Honda Civic was later located and seized in the 200 block of Patricia Avenue. The vehicle had damage to the hood and windshield.

While conducting their investigation, a male party approached officers and indicated that he was the driver of the Honda that struck the male. The investigation has revealed that the victim was attempting to cross Sandwich street from the south side of the street to the north side.

The 19 year old driver of the Honda Civic is facing charges of Fail to Remain and Careless Driving.

The victim is expected to undergo surgery this morning for a fractured vertebrae. He also suffered numerous cuts and abrasions to his face, arms and back. His injuries are considered non life threatening.
