Windsor - November 10, 2012 - The Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) is proud to announce that Marilyn Beckham, Regional Rescue Director of Forgotten Harvest Canada, will be our guest speaker on Monday, November 12, 2012.
Forgotten Harvest was founded with a simple mission - Fight Hunger & Fight Waste. Donated product, food that otherwise would go to waste, is delivered free of charge to food assistance programs in the region.
Forgotten Harvest is a registered charity launched in Canada in 2011 with the help of their sister organization in Detroit. To date, the Canadian food rescue organization has distributed over 450,000 pounds of fresh produce to more than 42 sites serving low income persons in the Windsor Essex County Area.
Ms. Beckham is a member of the Food Matters Roundtable Network of Windsor-Essex. She is a native of Michigan and has undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan. A successful business owner for 28 years, she retired twice, and chose to volunteer for Forgotten Harvest, before being called to her present position in 2010.
The club’s lunch meeting gets underway at noon. Ms. Beckham is scheduled to begin her presentation at 1:00 pm and conclude by 1:30 pm. The Caboto Club is located at 2175 Parent Ave. at Tecumseh Rd. E.
