Korean superstar PSY goes 4x Platinum in Canada with Gangnam Style

After owning the #1 slot on the Canadian digital singles chart for an impressive eight weeks, Korean-born global superstar PSY has reached 4X platinum digital sales status in Canada with his international cultural phenomenon, Gangnam Style.

Toronto - November 16, 2012 - After owning the #1 slot on the Canadian digital singles chart for an impressive eight weeks, Korean-born global superstar PSY has reached 4X platinum digital sales status in Canada with his international cultural phenomenon, Gangnam Style. With the single storming the charts in every major market the world over, Canada shows just how much they love PSY as the first country in North America, Europe or Asia to reach quadruple platinum status.

According to Guinness World Records, Gangnam Style, which has only been available to view online for 16 weeks, has been “liked” in excess of five million times, making it the “most liked video in YouTube history". Gangnam Style has also been viewed 722 million times and been commented on over three million times.

Jai-Sang Park, known by his stage name, PSY, is a Korean singer, songwriter and producer. He attended Berklee College of Music and jokingly takes pride in being a freshman for ten years.

With six full-length albums under his belt, PSY is a music industry veteran in Korea. He has proven himself as a talented and prolific songwriter, having written or co-written every song he has ever released as well as a number of tracks for various popular artists in Korea.
