Spitfires wrap-up pre-season with win over Sting
Michael Clarke, Kerby Rychel and Derek Schoenmakers each scored twice, as the Windsor Spitfires wrapped their exhibition schedule with a 7-6 win over the Sarnia Sting Sunday at the WFCU Centre. Jordan McNaughton had a goal and an assist, while Ben Johnson and Brady Vail each chipped in a pair of assists.

Windsor - September 16, 2012 - Michael Clarke, Kerby Rychel and Derek Schoenmakers each scored twice, as the Windsor Spitfires wrapped their exhibition schedule with a 7-6 win over the Sarnia Sting Sunday at the WFCU Centre.

Jordan McNaughton had a goal and an assist, while Ben Johnson and Brady Vail each chipped in a pair of assists. The win was Windsor's first in five pre-season starts.

Clarke and McNaughton scored in a 1:05 span of the first period to erase an early 1-0 deficit.

Rychel's first of the game gave the Spitfires a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes. His second made it 5-3 past the midway point of the second period.

Schoenmakers scored the winner at 9:16 of the third period; his fourth goal in three games since being acquired from Sudbury earlier this month. Jordan DeKort played the entire game in goal for Windsor, stopping 27 shots. Knickolas Dawe started for Sarnia, making 19 saves before he was relieved by Brodie Barrick at the 10:02 mark of the second period. Barrick made 15 saves in a losing cause.

The Spits get going for real this Thursday night, as they open the 2012-2013 season hosting the Owen Sound Attack.
