Windsor - September 28, 2012 - Tonight, the Windsor Spitfires continue their 2012-13 Ontario Hockey League season with a road game against the Mississauga Steelheads. This evening’s game will mark the first time that the Spits will face the new look team from the western sub-urb of Toronto. Game time is 7:30 pm.

Mississauga Steelheads

The Steelheads have an even record at 1-1-0-0 following a victory over the Barrie Colts and a loss to the Kitchener Rangers . Riley Brace and Dylan DeMelo lead the Steelheads in scoring with two points apiece. On Sunday afternoon, Captain StuartPercy scored the first goal of the season for the Steelheads and the first for the newly rebranded franchise. Tonight, members of Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic team will be on hand as the Steelheads honour their performances from the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

Windsor Spitfires

The Spitfires enter the game coming off a huge win last night against one of the top teams in the country. Chris Marchese netted a pair, including the winner to propel the Spits to a 4-2 victory over the Kitchener Rangers at the WFCU Centre. Windsor’s record now sits at 2-1-0-0 and they sit atop the West Division standings. Montreal Draftee Brady Vail leads the team in scoring with 4 points in 3 games. Still no word if defenceman Patrick Seiloff will face any disciplinary action for his huge open ice hit on Rangers’ Justin Bailey. Most in the building believed it to be a clean hit.

Starting Goalies

It is unclear who will get the start tonight for the Steelheads. Spencer Martin and Tyler Teichmann have each played a game this season and with back-to-back games this weekend, it is probable that they will split the duties. Based on Windsor’s performance last night, Martin may get the nod. Jaroslav Pavelka has started all three games for the Spits so far this season, including a strong performance last night at home. Look for Jordan DeKort to possibly get the start tonight with Pavs between the pipes on Sunday.

Parting thoughts

The Steelheads are back in action tomorrow night for a second tilt with the Barrie Colts. On Sunday, the Spitfires are home to the Sudbury Wolves at 2:00 pm.

Loved this quote from the Rockhead Game Blog on WindsorSptifires.com:
Pat Sieloff wipes out Bailey. Clean hit. Then of course he has to fight Meighan. Hate that part of how the game is now. Hit a guy clean and still have to fight some douche because he can't take it. For the record, Pat kicked the snot out of him. Rad. Love this kid. Wow. After no call was originally made. Sieloff is given five minutes for the hit. And tossed. Unreal. Boogie is pissed. I would be too.
