Parting thoughts

Tonight, the Spitfires play game two of a four game home stand. The Niagara Ice Dogs come to town on Sunday. Next Thursday, Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters will be the opponent.

Two dynamic, young future stars of the Ontario Hockey League meet tonight. Windsor's Ho-Sang, the fifth-overall pick in the 2012 OHL Draft and Sault Ste Marie's Sergey Tolchinsky both are expected to be among leading rookie scorers this season. Last Christmas, the now 17-year-old Russian Tolchinksy winger scored six times in six games, leading Team Russia to the gold medal at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge hosted in Windsor and surrounding communities.

There has been considerable speculation that the Spitfires had hoped to draft Tolchinsky in the 2012 Import Draft, however he was selected earlier in the round by the Greyhounds. Instead, the Spitfires drafted Russian Vladimir Ionin with the 15th Overall Pick. Ionin was let go by the team after the pre-season.
