Whalers blank Spits in Pre-Season Opener

A first period goal from Cody Payne stood up as the winner, as the Plymouth Whalers topped the Windsor Spitfires 3-0 in the pre-season opener for both team on Saturday night. Curtis Crombeen and Rickard Rakell added powerplay goals in the third period.

Wyandotte - September 1, 2012 - A first period goal from Cody Payne stood up as the winner, as the Plymouth Whalers topped the Windsor Spitfires 3-0 in the pre-season opener for both team on Saturday night.

Curtis Crombeen and Rickard Rakell added powerplay goals in the third period.

Matt Mahalak and Riley Corbin split the shutout in front of a full house at Yack Arena in Wyandotte, Michigan. Matt Mistele and Alex Aleardi each had a pair of assists.

Jordan DeKort and Dalen Kuchmey split duties in the Windsor goal.
