Toronto - November 16, 2012 - Canadian High School students who aspire to careers as recording engineers and producers can enter the Nimbus Mix Contest to mix their own version of songs from Universal Music Canada artists Hedley, Sam Roberts and Karl Wolf. The announcement was made today by Bob Ezrin, Nimbus School of Recording Arts Founder and Randy Lennox, President & CEO, Universal Music Canada.

“This contest is a real opportunity for a new generation of engineers and producers,” said legendary producer Ezrin. “This is a chance for talented students to work on tracks from artists they hear on the radio, and to see what it takes to create a mix that stands up to industry standards.”

“Universal is excited to be working alongside Bob and Garth and the entire Nimbus team,” added Lennox. “This is a great opportunity to encourage students to pursue their love of music and hopefully someday we can look back and realize we found the next Bob Ezrin or the next Garth Richardson.”

Starting April 1, 2013, students will be able to download the raw tracks and create their own unique mixes. Contestants will need to upload their completed mixes by April 30, 2013 for public voting. The top 10 mixes based on the public vote will then be judged by Nimbus co-founders Bob Ezrin and Garth Richardson, along with Universal President and CEO, Randy Lennox. The high school student creating the winning mix will receive a $25,000 scholarship to attend the elite Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver, BC. Nimbus offers in-depth training in engineering, record production, Urban Hip Hop production, as well as Music Business.

High School students interested in participating in the contest can visit www.nimbusmixcontest.ca.

Started by record producers Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, KISS, Peter Gabriel) and Garth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against), Nimbus School of Recording Arts passes on the same training, skills and discipline to a new generation of engineers and producers as that which Bob and Garth have learned throughout their careers.
