Hamilton - August 22, 2012 - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Arkells are thrilled to announce that the multi-award winning Hamilton band is set to release a new single that will serve as the official anthem of the 143-year-old Canadian Football League franchise, ‘Ticats are Hummin.’

‘Ticats are Hummin’ will be available for download after making its world debut on Y108 today at 8 a.m. Proceeds from downloads will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton.

Formed in Hamilton, Arkells (Max Kerman, Mike DeAngelis, Nick Dika, Tim Oxford, Anthony Carone) have become one of Canada’s most acclaimed rock outfits. In 2008, the band released their super-charged debut CD, Jackson Square. In 2010, Arkells were propelled further into the national spotlight, garnering The Juno Award for ‘New Group of The Year’; The Canadian Music Week Indie Award for ‘Favourite Live Artist/Group’; and Canadian Radio Music Award for ‘FACTOR Breakthrough Artist’.

In 2011, Arkells released their sophomore album Michigan Left to critical acclaim, and this past April won the 2012 Juno for ‘Band Of The Year’.

As the official anthem of the Tiger-Cats, ‘Ticats are Hummin’ will be heard inside the stadium before kickoff and immediately following victories, while the chorus will play after touchdowns. The song’s official music video will make its debut at the Labour Day Classic on September 3, when the Ticats host the Toronto Argonauts at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
