Volunteers recognized at the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards
Pictured is 12 year old Chloë Zummach, student at Rothwell-Osnabruck School in Ingleside who received a
Volunteer Service Award for her 5 years of service to the Stormont
Agricultural Society and the Stormont County Fair. She also received a
Queen's Diamond Jubilee pin, and a certificate signed by Mr Dalton
McGuinty, Premier of Ontario.
Cornwall - June 5, 2012 - The Ontario Volunteer Service Awards were held
Tuesday June 5th at the Best Western Parkway Inn and Conference Centre in Cornwall.
Approximately 120 guests atteneded to receive an award tonight; 9 of which were listed in the Youth Category.
Some of the towns represented were,
Cassleman, Ingleside, Chesterville, Cornwall, Winchester, Lunenburg,
Morewood and Inkerman. These volunteers were being recognized for their contributions with various organizations such as:
The Canadian Cancer Society, The Lion's Club, The Heart and Stroke
Foundation and the Agricultural Society.
The night began with an 11 yr
old student from Alexandria, Isabelle LaRoque who opened the
ceremonies with O Canada.
In addition to their awards, each of the recipients received a
commemorative pin to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The volunteers were recognized for 5 years of service to 25 and 30 years of service. Mr George Arthur Beaupre was recognized for 50 years of volunteering at the Lakeshore Drive United Church. Another 50 year volunteer was Mr
Robert Bougie for his years of service with the Paroisse St Bernadin.
The evening ended with refreshments and a chance to mingle with other
