MLB: Raines awaits his call from the Hall

Dec. 27, 2013: The fact we are now into year number seven of the Tim Raines Hall of Fame watch is more than a little disappointing. Anyone who watched him play throughout his 23 year career, knows exactly just how good and dominant a ball player he was, Had Raines played for any other team than the Montreal Expos during his first ten years in the big leagues, this would all be a moot point...as he would have been enshrined in Cooperstown long ago. Nadal surpasses Federer into a class of his own

Sep. 11, 2013: With his eighth French Open and second US Open crowns added to the books, Rafa Nadal now sits with 13 career Grand Slam titles, just one shy of Pete Sampras and only four back of Roger Federer. For so many years, Federer was looked upon as being the greatest player of all-time but after the year Rafa has just put together, that is simply no longer the case FULL STORY

Lecavalier would look darn good in Oilers silks

Jun. 28, 2013: With his $7.7 million cap hit no longer an issue, one would think, there are 29 NHL GM's wondering just how good Vincent Lecavalier would look in their city. Craig MacTavish is undoubtedly one of those thinking of taking a run at the former Tampa Bay Lightning captain and Lecavalier would be a perfect fit in Edmonton but are the Oilers a fit for the former Stanley Cup winner? Oilers: It could be Nichushkin or Nurse on draft day

Jun. 26, 2013: Heading into the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Edmonton Oilers are hopeful they will be able to select a centre with their seventh overall picks, likely one of Elias Lindholm or Sean Monahan. However, that may not be in the cards come Sunday afternoon. Leaving them the decision of choosing between one of Valeri Nichuskin or Darnell Nurse, which may not be such a bad thing. FULL STORY

Oilers could benefit from a Clutterbuck for Pitlick swap

Jun. 25, 2013: According to the Star Tribune's Mike Russo, the Edmonton Oilers have inquired about the availability of Minnesota Wild winger Cal Clutterbuck. Russo mentioned prospect Tyler Pitlick as Minnesota's possible asking price for the hard-hitting restricted free agent, something Craig MacTavish would seriously have to consider. FULL STORY

2013 NHL Entry Draft: Curtis Lazar and the Edmonton Oilers

Jun. 24, 2013: Much has been made of the Edmonton Oilers and their seventh overall pick at the upcoming 2013 NHL Entry Draft. While Craig MacTavish has made no secret of his willingness to potentially move that pick, one would think the organization would still want to add another piece to the puzzle, later in the 1st round. Someone like Edmonton Oil Kings centre Curtis Lazar. FULL STORY

Upgrading the blueline has to be priority one for the Edmonton Oilers

Jun. 20, 2013: With the 2013 NHL Entry Draft just around the corner, Edmonton Oilers GM Craig MacTavish will need to decide what to do with the club's seventh overall pick. Regardless of what he decides, targeting the likes of a Stephane Robidas and Keith Yandle, to try and upgrade his blueline, needs to be priority number one. FULL STORY

Oilers could build a decent bottom six, with or without Shawn Horcoff

Jun. 19, 2013: GM Craig MacTavish has made it known to anyone willing to listen, that he intends on re-shaping the Edmonton Oilers roster during the coming off-season. Part of that change will likely include the departure of captain Shawn Horcoff, making the job of addressing his bottom six forwards, a far more difficult task but still an attainable one. Blackhawks Frolik would be a nice addition to the Edmonton Oilers top nine

Jun. 18, 2013: With the Chicago Blackhawks likely facing a bit of a cap crunch in 2013-14, GM Stan Bowman will have some work to do during the coming off-season. Inking the likes of Bryan Bickell, Marcus Kruger and Nick Leddy will be his priority, meaning forward Michael Frolik could be made available via trade. Something which should interest Edmonton Oilers GM Craig MacTavish. FULL STORY

Krueger actually helped the Oilers take a step forward in 2013

Jun. 14, 2013: It has been exactly one week since Ralph Krueger was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Edmonton Oilers. While no one can blame Craig MacTavish for making a change and bringing in former Toronto Marlies head coach Dallas Eakins, the idea that this club in some way took a step backward during Krueger's 48 game stint behind the bench, is simply false.
