Cornwall - Mar. 9, 2011 - A fresh food market chain with Cornwall roots has been named of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for 2010.

Farm Boy outshone thousands of other applicants to win the national award, which is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, and Queen's School of Business.

"We're extremely proud to be among the exceptional companies chosen to be one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies," said Farm Boy CEO Jeff York. "Our team's vision, hard work and unwavering commitment to quality have established Farm Boy's reputation as a destination for the freshest foods, great service and value."

Farm Boy's first store opened in Cornwall in 1981 by Jean-Louis Bellemare. Bellemare and his brothers, Normand and Daniel, eventually expanded to Ottawa.

The company now has nine stores in the greater Ottawa and Cornwall regions with plans to open two stores this year and more the following year. Future expansion plans will include a move outside of the Ottawa area.
