Cornwall Colts move up to third spot in national rankings
Jacob Laliberte and the Cornwall Colts moved up to the number 3 position in the latest edition of the Canadian Junior Hockey League's Top 20 rankings.

Cornwall - Feb. 7, 2011 - Thanks to a pair of recent back-to-back wins, the Cornwall Colts have seen their stock rise in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's national rankings.

The latest edition of the CJHL's Top 20 Rankings - released Monday - have the Colts in the number three spot, up two spots from the previous listing.

The Colts aren't the only members of the Central Hockey League to make the list, which involves some 150 Junior A hockey teams in 10 different leagues across Canada.

The Pembroke Lumber Kings - who sit second behind Cornwall in the league standings - are ranked eighth in the country, while the Brockville Braves are currently ranked 17th.

The national rankings are based on a variety of factors including the league in which the teams belong to, their winning percentage, their win-loss record, total points accumulated, and their goals-for versus goals-against ratio, amongst other factors.

The Colts - who sit atop the league with a 43-9-1-0 record (87 points) - have been getting a lot of support in the win column from captain Jacob Laliberte, who has picked up 13 points in his last five games alone.

The 20-year-old forward leads the league in points with with 54 goals and 118 points through 53 games.

Laliberte and the rest of the Colts will look to keep the momentum going on Thursday when they host the Nepean Raiders at the Cornwall Civic Complex (7:30 p.m.).
