Platinum Pools and Spas making a big splash in Cornwall
When Mike and Natalie Bedard decided to open a new pool company in Cornwall, they were making an important business decision - and a family decision as well.

Cornwall - Dec. 13, 2011 - When Mike and Natalie Bedard decided to open a new pool company in Cornwall, they were making an important business decision - and a family decision as well.

The couple had worked at a local pool company for over 10 years, and they had received job offers in other cities after the business closed its doors.

But rather than move away to pursue new opportunities, the two Cornwall natives and St. Lawrence College graduates decided to create a new opportunity in their hometown.

"The love of our hometown and the people in this community is the reason why we chose Cornwall over other cities," said Mike. "We believe Cornwall is the best place to raise a family."

Located in the EastCourt Mall, Platinum Pools and Spas is home to six full-time employees. The business offers a full range of sales, service and supplies for pools and hot tubs.

"Our employees are dedicated to helping people enjoy life in their own backyard," said Mike. "We encourage all of our clients to use local contractors for all of their backyard needs and we practice what we preach by hiring only local people for all of our business needs when available."

In addition to providing friendly one-on-one service, Platinum Pools and Spas is also a big believer in natural water care.

"We are big advocates of greener chemistries, but we are also well grounded in the practicalities of successfully managing water care for pools and hot tubs," notes Mike.

Mike's interest in his hometown prompted him to run for a seat on City Council in the 2010 Municipal Election, and his passion for community service will extend to Platinum Pools and Spas as well.

"Our company and all of its employees will be encouraged to be good corporate citizens who donate time and money to the community on a consistent basis," said Mike.

"Mike and Natalie's story is encouraging to hear. Rather than move away, they decided to stay in Cornwall and put their skills to work building a new business," said Candy Pollard, Business Consultant with the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre. "Their experience and commitment to Cornwall will surely pay dividends in the long run."
