Buffalo - September 29, 2014 - On Saturday, the Buffalo Sabres sent 11 players to the Rochester Americans. Luke Adam is the only one who must clear waivers.

The others sent down include William Carrier, Dan Catenacci, Colin Jacobs, Justin kea, Jordan Samuels-Thomas, Kevin Sundher, Phil Varone, Brady Austin, Jerome Leduc and Chad Ruhwedel. They also sent Justin Bailey and Brendan Lemieux back to their respective junior clubs.

Adam’s clock seems to be ticking as he’s been doing very well in the AHL only to miss the cut for the Sabres. He tallied 29 goals and 49 points last year for the Amerks in 59 games, but just can’t seem to stay with the Sabres, registering 11 goals and 26 points in 87 career NHL games.

Also worth noting is that the Sabres not only loss to the Toronto Maple Leaf 3-2 on Sunday, but they also lost forwards Patrick Kaleta and Johan Larsson to apparent head injuries.

Kaleta took a slapshot to the head from Morgan Reilly just minutes into the game and immediately skated off to the dressing room to be looked at. Larsson, meanwhile, took an elbow to the head from Petter Granberg later on in the period and required assistance to get to the bench.

Head coach Ted Nolan didn’t have an update on either. The Sabres are already being hit hard in the preseason by injuries, having previously lost defenseman Mark Pysyk and now losing a pair of forwards competing for roster spots.

We will have updates for you as they come.
