Tonight's Sabres/Rangers game has been cancelled
By Ryan Womeldorf

Friday night's tilt between the Sabres and Rangers has been postponed due to the massive snow storm in Buffalo.

Buffalo - November 21, 2014 - It’s been quite the week in Buffalo.

The Sabres are riding a two-game winning streak, their first of the year, after trouncing the San Jose Sharks 4-1 on Tuesday night. That was a game they’d played without Patrick Kaleta (and most of their fan base) after a snow storm hit the town, preventing most from leaving their homes.

That massive storm, which dropped nearly six feet of snow on the city, was enough to make the team reconsider their game against the New York Rangers today, postponing the game until further notice. The Rangers, who were scheduled to fly into Buffalo yesterday, were told to unpack after the NHL made their decision.

From the Buffalo News:

"There's a lot more important things in life than a sporting event," Sabres head coach Ted Nolan said. "But sometimes when you're going through tough situations that sporting even takes you away from reality for a couple hours and gets you to think of something else."

The Sabres aren’t the only Buffalo team affected, either. The NFL’s Buffalo Bills were set to take on the New York Jets at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday, but that game has been moved to Detroit’s Ford Field on Monday night instead. New York governor Andrew Cuomo called the idea of playing the game “impractical” and he was probably right, despite the Bills offering $10/hr and game tickets to anyone willing to help them shovel out the stadium.

There’s no make-up date announced just yet, but something will no doubt come down from the league offices sooner rather than later.

You know the saying “when it rains, it pours”? Well when it snows in Buffalo, it really snows. Or something like that. You do better.
