Wilkes-Barre - March 6, 2015 -

The WBS Penguins took on the Manchester Monarch’s tonight at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, a nice WBS Penguins contingent on hand for tonight’s game supporting our boys on the road.

End to end action early in the first Berube made a nice save on a Bobby Farnham scoring chance keeping the game even at 0-0. Taylor Chorney turns the puck over in the Penguin zone and the Monarchs Jordan Weal jumps on it for a Manchester goal. Not long after WBS had a defensive breakdown and Brian O’Neil left all alone puts one past Jeff Zatkoff to make it 2-0 Manchester.

The WBS Penguins would get a chance on the power play to get some scoring started and that they do as Scott Harrington lights the lamp making it a 2-1 game. Jayson Megna gets whistled for interference putting Manchester on the power play, it wouldn’t take long for Colin Miller to find the handle and put the Monarch’s up by two again now 3-1. Payrel and Bissonnette would do a little dance both getting a fight major. The first period would come to an end WBS looking at a two goal hole they need to climb out of.

The second period starts off bad for WBS as Bobby Farnham gets called for delay of game then seconds later as Manchester is on the power play Jayson Megna gets called for delay of game giving the Monarch’s 72 seconds of 5×3 hockey. WBS kills off the 5×3 but Manchester’s LoVerde makes WBS pay on the 5×4 giving the Monarch’s a 4-1 lead.

WBS would get a chance on the power play as Manchester’s Jeff Shultz would get whistled for interference, but the WBS Penguins get nothing out of the power play. Vincent LoVerde gets called for tripping just after the Schultz power play expired. This time the Penguins would get the power play goal, Taylor Chorney cuts the Monarch’s lead in half once again making it a 4-2 game. Manchester comes back with a goal to make it 5-2 right off the faceoff takiing a bite out of the momentum the Penguins are trying to gain and ending the second period.

Dominik Uher would find a puck in the Monarch’s zone put it on net and tally the WBS Penguins third goal of the game making it a 5-3 game. Manchesters Jordan Weal makes it a 6-3 Monarch’s lead with his second of the game going on HTA, again takingaway some of the WBS mojo.

WBS would keep coming not giving up but it was all Manchester tonight, it didn’t seem to matter no matter what the WBS Penguins had going the Monarch’s canceled it out. Tonight’s game would end the Manchester Monarch’s taking the first of the two meetings this weekend by the score of 6-3.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow in Manchester at 3:00pm. The WBS Penguins will be looking to better themselves on the weekend the Monarch’s looking for another win.
