Washington - March 1, 2015 - The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Curtis Glencross from the Calgary Flames for a second- and third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

"Curtis is a player we coveted and we are pleased that he decided to waive his no-trade clause to join our team," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said. "We felt we needed to get deeper and more experienced at the forward position. Curtis plays important minutes and his presence on-and-off the ice will benefit our young forwards."

In 53 games for the Flames this season, Glencross had nine goals and 28 points. He averaged more than 16 minutes of ice time per game.

The Flames (70 points) are tied for third with the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division and trail the Minnesota Wild for the second Western Conference wild-card spot into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"I'm thankful to have been at home, playing at home, in front of friends and family for that long," Glencross said.

The Capitals were looking to add a top-six forward heading into the NHL Trade Deadline on March 2 at 3 p.m. Coach Barry Trotz has shuffled forwards on his top line next to center Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin for most of the season.

Washington (76 points) holds the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and trails the New York Islanders by eight points for first place in the Metropolitan Division.
