Matthews agrees to five-year, $58.17 million contract with Maple Leafs

Toronto - Feb. 5, 2019: Auston Matthews agreed to a five-year, $58.17 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. It has an annual average value of $11.634 million. The 21-year-old center, taken No. 1 by the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Draft, could have become a restricted free agent July 1. FULL STORY

Niederreiter traded to Hurricanes by Wild

Raleigh - Jan. 17, 2019: Nino Niederreiter was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes by the Minnesota Wild for Victor Rask on Thursday. Niederreiter, chosen by the New York Islanders with the No. 5 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft and Rask was selected by Carolina in the second round (No. 42) of the 2011 NHL Draft. FULL STORY

NHL, NHLPA will not hold World Cup of Hockey 2020

Toronto - Jan. 17, 2019: The NHL and the NHLPA had another constructive meeting today in Toronto. While the parties have now jointly concluded that it is no longer realistic to try to schedule a World Cup of Hockey for the fall of 2020, they plan to continue their dialog with a hope of being able to schedule the next World Cup event as part of a broader agreement, which would include a long-term international event calendar. Curtis Joseph In Town To Promote New Book

Windsor - Dec. 10, 2018: Windsor loves Curtis Joseph. And the throng of people who gathered at Devonshire Mall’s Indigo book store recently proved it. Joseph was in town at the end of a coast to coast book signing tour that began in October and ended in London on December 1st. His new book "Cujo – The Untold Story Of My Life On And Off The Ice" is a look into the life of the former superstar NHL goaltender and arguably the best player not currently in the Hockey Hall Of Fame. Hometown Hockey - Johnny Bower Memories
Windsor - Dec. 28, 2017: There are only three people in this world I thought would live forever. One of them was my dad. The other two were Gordie Howe and Johnny Bower. Dad, who was instrumental in making me a hockey fan, passed away eleven years ago, Gordie left us in June of 2016, and Johnny Bower died on Boxing Day, (coincidentally the same day my dad died). So much for my psychic capabilities.

Sparks and Kapanen recalled by Maple Leafs
Windsor - Mar. 27, 2017: On Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs recalled goaltender Garret Sparks and Right Winger Kasperi Kapanen from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. Starting goaltender Frederik Andersen left Saturday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with an upper body injury. Forward Nikita Soshnikov was injured a few games ago against the Boston Bruins.

Windsor - Mar. 24, 2017: Windsor Spitfires overage forward Jeremiah Addison has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens, the team announced today. Addison, 20, was Montreal's 7th round pick (207th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
