Vigneault hired as Flyers coach

Philadelphia - Apr. 16, 2019: Alain Vigneault was hired as coach of the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. Vigneault signed a multiyear contract; terms were not disclosed. Vigneault will coach Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Championship, in Slovakia from May 10-26. FULL STORY

Quenneville hired as Panthers coach

Sunrise - Apr. 8, 2019: Joel Quenneville was named coach of the Florida Panthers on Monday. Quenneville is the second-winningest coach in NHL history and guided the Chicago Blackhawks to the Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Quenneville was the longest-tenured coach in the NHL before being fired by the Blackhawks, who hired him on Oct. 16, 2008, to replace Denis Savard. FULL STORY

Hawerchuk ranked at No. 7 in the QMJHL’s 50-year history

Boucherville - Apr. 5, 2019: The player ranked at No. 7 in the QMJHL’s 50-year history is Dale Hawerchuk. The Toronto native only played two QMJHL seasons with the Cornwall Royals before becoming the first overall pick in the 1981 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. Hawerchuk put up 103 and 183-point seasons as a 16 and 17-year-old with the Royals with the club winning the Memorial Cup in each of those two seasons. FULL STORY
