Cornwall - November 8, 2011 - In the pre-game show, former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka stood alone. He was the only ESPN Analyst to correctly predict a Bears win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears scored the final 13 points of the game to rally back to beat the Eagles 30-24.

The ESPN team of Chris Bermin, Keyshawn Johnson, Tom Jackson, Curtis Menifee and Steve Young all picked the Eagles to defeat the Bears on this Monday night. In the end only Coach Ditka got it right.

Bears running back Matt Forte was probably the happiest player in the dressing room after the win. Forte has been great all season, but fumbled the ball twice in the game leading to 14 points for Philadelphia. Forte had not fumbled since Oct. 24, 2010. He still had a solid game rushing for 133 yards on 24 carries, including 45 yards on his first three runs.

All three phases of the Bears game looked good at Lincoln Financial Field. Bears kicker Robbie Gould move ahead of the legendary Walter Payton for second place on the team’s all-time scoring list. He trails only Kevin Butler who registered 1,116 points for the Bears in the 1980’s. Gould finished the game with 757 points in a Chicago uniform. Corey Graham once again had a solid game on special teams, forcing a DeSean Jackson fumble on a punt return that Sam Hurd recovered on the Philadelphia 9.

On offence, quarterback Jay Cutler had a strong game completing 18 of 32 passes for 208 yards with 2 TDs, no interceptions and a 96.9 passer rating. He was not sacked for just the second time in 39 career games with the Bears. Earl Bennett returned to the line-up and caught 5 passes for 95 yards and had one touchdown. Marian Barber was strong in short yardage situations and scored a touchdown.

The Monsters of the Midway kept Michael Vick and the so-called Dream Team in check most of the night and holding this powerful offence to only 330 yards. Middle linebackers Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs started the 108th game together – the most in NFL history. Both Pro-Bowlers looked as though they were in the early part of the careers. Urlacher had ten tackles and Briggs had five. Julius Peppers had a sack and Canadian Israel Idonije had some big hits throughout the night.

If the Playoffs started today, the Chicago Bears would earn the second NFC Wildcard spot and would travel to the Meadowlands to take on the NY Giants. The Bears have another tough game next week, as they return home to take on the 6-2 Detroit Lions. No doubt, the Bears will be looking to make amends for the 24-13 defeat they received from Detroit on that Monday night in the Motor City.
