Alexandria Native Riley Filion named OUA Soccer MVP
From the Glengarry Gaels to the Queens Golden Gaels, Riley Filion has had a successful soccer career. The Alexandria native was recently named the East division MVP by the Ontario University Athletics conference. Filion has earned the honour of this year’s most valuable player.

Cornwall - Oct. 31, 2011 - From the Glengarry Gaels to the Queens Golden Gaels, Riley Filion has had a successful soccer career. The Alexandria native was recently named the East division MVP by the Ontario University Athletics conference.

Filion has earned the honour of this year’s most valuable player. The third-year midfielder scored six goals, helping the No. 3 Queen’s Gaels to a first place finish in OUA East. Filion’s career at Queen’s is decorated with a number of accomplishments, including two-time CIS Championship All-Star status, member of the Canadian women’s summer universiade team, and scorer of the winning goal in the 2010 CIS Championship game. She is a workhorse for the Gaels, possessing the ability to set-up important plays, maintain ball possession, and finish in front of the net.

Filion is studying Kinesiology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
