Boston Bruins off to decent start to season

Oct. 16, 2013: The Boston Bruins opened their season against the Lightning on the 3rd of October with a 3-1 win. They looked sluggish for most of the game, and Tampa Bay outskated the Bruins who just capitalized on the few chances they were given. Not a terribly surprising start as the break between the last day of camp and the first game was considerable. New Bruins Jarome Iginla and Loui Erikkson played their first game with Iginla dropping the gloves after taking a clean hit immediately endearing him to the Bruins faithful. FULL STORY

Aug. 30, 2013: As NHL teams are quickly closing in on training camp to begin the 2013/14 campaign, the majority of teams have more than a few question marks in regards to the lineup that they will introduce their fans to but not the Boston Bruins. Aug. 23, 2013: As the final horn was sounded on the 20050-2006 NHL season, it saw the Boston Bruins sitting outside of the playoff picture having only compiled 74pts. Change was necessary, fans had become unaccepting of the mediocrity they were force fed and it showed via empty seats. That change came in the form of Peter Chiarelli, a former player’s agent who had, prior to his appointment as General Manager of the Bruins worked as the Assistant GM in Ottawa for two years and a shift in attitude, commitment and vision had begun.
