Memorial Cup 2017 Coming To Windsor
this morning’s long awaited announcement that the Windsor Spitfires will play host to the 2017 MasterCard Memorial Cup. In a press release from the Spits, OHL Commissioner David Branch was quoted as saying “The city of Windsor and Essex County is home to some of the most passionate fans in the entire Canadian Hockey League.” Commissioner Branch is right. We love our hockey, and we love our Spitfires. Think back to May 2010 when the Spits won their second Memorial Cup in a row.

Windsor - May 2, 2016 - The sun came out this morning for the first time in several days.

I think it may have had something to do with this morning’s long awaited announcement that the Windsor Spitfires will play host to the 2017 MasterCard Memorial Cup. Do you remember the parade down Ouellette Avenue? I certainly do. Thousands of fans lined the street to congratulate the team on an unforgettable afternoon in downtown Windsor.

The 2016-17 team that General Manager Warren Rychel has put together will be chasing the dream once again. The event takes place at the WFCU Centre May 18-29, 2017.

I can’t wait.

TC out.
