Follow Me on TwitterTim Cornett is a lifelong resident of Windsor and a diehard fan of the Windsor Spitfires, Toronto Maple Leafs, Hamilton Tiger Cats, Pittsburgh Steelers, and just to be different, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles - ('hey, if my father-in-law can have two favourite hockey teams, I can have two favourite baseball teams!') Tim is a photographer by profession, with a love of writing. 'Whatnot' pays homage to his late father Jim's long running Windsor Star column 'Who, When and Whatnot.' Apr. 8, 2014: The first round of the OHL Priority Selection Draft proved to be exciting and entertaining, as did the remaining rounds of the draft. OHL clubs acquired plenty of young talent, and each drafted player will look to give their all in the upcoming season. Windsor Spitfires were fortunate to acquire defenceman Logan Stanley with their first overall pick. FULL STORY

Apr. 6, 2014: The 2014 OHL Priority Selection Draft took place this past weekend, and the Windsor Spitfires' brass made sure to address particular holes in the team's depth chart. Yale defenceman Nick Chauvin was one of many acquisitions for the Spits, which supported the theme of drafting for the backend. The Spitfires would end the draft acquiring seven forwards, four defencemen, and two goaltenders. FULL STORY

Windsor local Kameron Seguin, a diehard hockey fan, will have the trip of a lifetime when he visits New York to meet New Jersey Devils members, past and present. Seguin is another individual to receive an experience from the Sunshine Foundation. The Devils organization has been nothing but supportive in helping the young Windsorite in achieving his dream. Feb. 17, 2014: Tuesday, February 18th marks the sixth anniversary of the passing of former Windsor Spitfires captain Mickey Renaud. The Spitfires game Tuesday night against the London Knights is dedicated to the memory of one of the most popular players in the history of franchise. His untimely passing sent shockwaves through Windsor’s tight knit hockey community, and the Spitfires honour Mickey every season with a game played on February 18th. FULL STORY

Feb. 4, 2014: Kevin Siddall passed away this morning at the age of fourteen. The young, multi-sport athlete was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last summer and fought a brave battle. Kevin was more than an athlete, though. He was a son, grandson, nephew, brother, cousin and friend. And he will be missed by many. FULL STORY

Jan. 5, 2014: When I was a kid my friends and I played ice hockey outside. For hours. In the cold and snow. We were soaked to the skin and freezing, but we didn’t care. It was hockey. And we loved playing it. We played outside because we didn’t know anything different. The memories of those outdoor rink days came flooding back (no pun intended) to me at Comerica Park last week during the Hockeytown Winter Festival. FULL STORY
