Maple Leafs get pounded in Columbus, There is always next year,
Maple Leafs get pounded in Columbus, There is always next year,

Apr. 9, 2015: The Toronto Maple Leafs played their 81st game of the season Wednesday night; a roadie in Columbus. The match featured two teams that won’t be in the playoffs this year, but for different reasons. The Blue Jackets were hit hard by injuries, and lost over 500 man games because of them. The Leafs? Not so lucky. At least that would explain why a team that looked so good on paper at the start of the season could be as dismal as they were. As the saying goes, there’s always next year. But that saying is growing old, because they’ve been using it since 1967. FULL STORY

Leafs Get Burned By Flames
Leafs Get Burned By Flames

Mar. 14, 2015: The Toronto Maple Leafs started a three game road trip in Calgary Friday night and got beat by a score of 6-3. This one was over in the first period. All Calgary did was score four goals, including not one, but two short handed goals. On the bright side, the lone Leafs’ goal of the period was scored by Richard Panik on a power play. Calgary’s top line of Sean Monahan, Jiri Hudler, and Johnny Gaudreau combined for nine points in the game, and to no one’s surprise were named the three stars of the game. FULL STORY

Maple Leafs, Sabres: Battle of The Abysmal
Maple Leafs, Sabres: Battle of The Abysmal

Mar. 12, 2015: The Toronto Maple Leafs played host to the Buffalo Sabres Wednesday night in what some fans were calling the Battle For McDavid. C’mon folks, if you think the Leafs have any chance of landing the Erie Otters wunderkind, give your head a shake. It’s not going to happen. The best we can hope for is a top five pick, and that’s ok with me. Tonight’s game wasn’t the Battle For McDavid, it was the Battle Of The Abysmal. FULL STORY

Mar. 4, 2015: Goaltending Coach Robb Tallas of the Florida Panthers stands in the hallway dressed for back up after both Goaltenders went down against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the BB&T Center on March 3, 2015 in Sunrise, Florida. The Leafs held on to win their first road game since New Year’s Eve, beating the Panthers 3-2. FULL STORY

SNAPSHOT - Three good guys, put 'er there!

Mar. 1, 2015: Every once in a while, you think of a cool shot that you'd like to take. When three of this season's Spitfires lost a few of their of their chiclets I thought I'd ask them to get together and give me a big smile. The fellas were kind enough to oblige me this afternoon. In separate incidents this year, Jamie Lewis lost three, Hayden McCool lost two, and Luke Kirwan lost one. Thanks for humouring me, guys! FULL STORY

Maple Leafs: So that is what a win feels like
Maple Leafs: So that is what a win feels like

Feb. 22, 2015: Ah….so that’s what a win feels like. Feels pretty good. Saturday night, at the Air Canada Centre the Toronto Maple Leafs played host to the Winnipeg Jets, and played a pretty decent game before another sold out crowd. James van Riemsdyk sent everyone home happy when he scored in overtime to give the Leafs a much needed win. FULL STORY

Mark Habros Retiring
Mark Habros Retiring

Feb. 9, 2015: A friend of mine will be retiring this week, and I’m happy for him. I’m also happy for his wife and family. After over twenty five years in the steel industry, Mark Habros will be hanging up his safety helmet this Thursday. Mark (also known as Habs), is originally from Hamilton, and is a long suffering Buffalo Sabres fan. He is counting down the days to the NHL draft, with visions of Connor McDavid dancing in his head. Last time the Maple Leafs lost 10 straight, they won the Stanley Cup
Last time the Maple Leafs lost 10 straight, they won the Stanley Cup

Feb. 7, 2015: The Toronto Maple Leafs went to New Jersey last night with one thing on their minds. Break out of the disastrous slump they are in. Having gone into the game without a win in their last ten games, the Buds were looking forward to taking on the sub .500 Devils. Not only did they lose, they created a new team record for futility by breaking the old one set by the 1966-67 version of the team. Yep, the same team that was the last group of Leafs to win the Stanley Cup. FULL STORY

Let Maple Leafs Feel The Love

Feb. 5, 2015: I love my Toronto Maple Leafs. Always have. Always will. And as much as I have a hard time watching them these days, I still do. I’ll admit that during this current slide I have not watched many complete games. I even flipped the channel to watch The Mentalist after the first period of the recent game against Ottawa. Interest in Leafs, Sens game pre-empted by The Mentalist

Jan. 22, 2015: In the latest edition of the “Battle of Ontario”, two .500 clubs going in different directions took to the ice in Ottawa. Taking a 3-0 lead into the dressing room after one period, the Senators appear to be in good shape. That was enough for me.... I’m switched to watch The Mentalist with the Missus. FULL STORY
