Leafs Go Into Christmas Break On A High
After a three game losing skid, the Toronto Maple Leafs rode into Texas Tuesday night, and are heading back home on a positive note, after shutting out the Dallas Stars 4-0. James Van Riemsdyk had the hot hand, scoring once and setting up two more to put the Buds back in the win column.

Windsor - December 24, 2014 - Well now, that’s more like it.

Despite being outshot 43-26 by the Stars, the Leafs took advantage of their chances and beat their hosts in a well played road game. Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier was brilliant, stopping everything that came his way. Not only did Bernier shut the door on the Stars, he garnered an assist on Van Riemsdyk’s 15th goal of the season.

Nazem Kadri had a strong game for the Blue and White, opening the scoring before the game was a minute old. Phil Kessel added two assists to his point total, giving the forward 38 points in 35 games.

The Leafs will return home for the Christmas break, and don’t play again until the annual Florida road trip. First up is a game against the Roberto Luongo led Panthers on December 28th, followed by a game in Tampa on the 29th.

RANDOM GAME NOTES

As in a lot of games this season, Leafs were outshot by the opposition.

Leafs were perfect in the penalty kill department, which is always a good thing.

Speaking of a good thing, there’s the goal post. If you’re Jonathan Bernier, you love it .If you’re Tyler Seguin, maybe not so much. He hit it three times tonight.

To close, in the spirit of the season, however you celebrate, here’s hoping each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday.

TC out.
