Maple Leafs shutout for 7th time this season
Carey Price continued his strong play for the Montreal Canadiens, as he and his team shutout the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. It was the seventh time this season that the Maple Leafs were shutout. Toronto’s road trip continues this evening as they travel to Washington to take on the Capitals in the weekly Hometown Hockey game. It is unclear how many players on the current roster will continue on with the team to south Florida as the NHL Trade deadline is Monday March 2nd at 3:00 pm.

Stoney Point - March 1, 2015 - Carey Price continued his strong play for the Montreal Canadiens, as he and his team shutout the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. It was the seventh time this season that the Maple Leafs were shutout.

"He's been unbelievable for their team all year," Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf said. "He's been extremely consistent. I think he's one of the top goalies in the League consistently year after year, and this year I would say he's probably the top goalie in the League. He's very well positioned, he fights through traffic very well.

"But the biggest thing for us is, I don't think we got enough traffic on him, because when you let him see the puck he's going to stop the puck. Tonight we just didn't generate enough screen shots, and when you get screen shots you get rebounds. But give credit to him, he played well."

David Desharnais scored a pair, including one into an empty net. Manny Malhotra and Tomas Plekanec also tallied for the Canadiens. Max Pacioretty registered two assists.

It was Price’s 31st shutout of his career. Toronto outshot Montreal 30-23 in the game. Jonathan Bernier allowed a couple of weak goals in the first period and that seemed to set the tone for the remainder of the game.

Toronto’s road trip continues this evening as they travel to Washington to take on the Capitals in the weekly Hometown Hockey game. It is unclear how many players on the current roster will continue on with the team to south Florida as the NHL Trade deadline is Monday March 2nd at 3:00 pm.

The Leafs have already moved out Cody Franson, Mike Santorelli, David Winnik and David Clarkson. More trades are expected between now and the deadline.

HometownHockey.ca will have full trade deadline coverage.
