Kessel, Bernier lead Leafs past Ducks for sixth straight win

Dec. 17, 2014: It was a game that saw the clash of two of the hottest teams in the NHL and in their toughest test of the season the Toronto Maple Leafs skated to a 6-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The win was the sixth in a row for Randy Carlyle’s Leafs. Phil Kessel lead the way offensively for Toronto with two goals and an assist. FULL STORY

Dec. 13, 2014: Alexander Steen returned to the line-up and scored three points to help the St. Louis Blues defeat the New York Islanders 6-3 on Thursday night. T.J. Oshie also had a three point night and Barret Jackman registered a goal and an assist. Jake Allen made 25 saves for the win. FULL STORY

Dec. 9, 2014: There are rumours circulating south western Ontario and various Ontario Hockey League circles that the Plymouth Whalers are looking to move out of Michigan to a small Canadian city. The city of Chatham has been rumoured as a potential landing spot for the Whalers. Cornwall Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy and his Council should move quickly and make a call to explore the possible return of the Cornwall Royals. FULL STORY

Dec. 6, 2014: The Toronto Maple Leafs are now 11-0 when they score first. Tonight, they got on the board first and that paced them to a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Goaltender Jonathan Bernier made his eight consecutive start and it was likely his best game of the season. Bernier made 44 saves as he paced the Buds to their 14th win of the season. FULL STORY

Dec. 3, 2014: The Toronto Maple Leafs season winning percentage now sits at .604, thanks to a 5 to 3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night. The Leafs have now won four out of the last five games and have registered a point in each of those games. Further, the Leafs now move to 10-0 on the season when scoring first. FULL STORY

Nov. 30, 2014: Jonathan Bernier got his fifth consecutive start on Saturday night as the Toronto Maple Leafs played host to the Washington Capitals. Bernier has had some slow starts to games this season as he has given up a goal in the first two minutes of the game on four different occasions. On this night, Bernier wouldn’t give up an early goal and made 35 saves as the Leafs pounded the Caps 6-2. FULL STORY

Nov. 29, 2014: Techumseh native and former Windsor Spitfires and Guelph Storm star Kerby Rychel will make his NHL debut tonight in Nashville. The Columbus Blue Jackets have called up Rychel and Michael Chaput from Springfield of the American Hockey League and reassigned forward Alexander Wennberg to Springfield. FULL STORY

Nov. 26, 2014: In a classy move, the Toronto Maple Leafs will honour former Head Coach Pat Quinn this evening with a jersey patch as they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh. Quinn died on Monday after a lengthy illness. The Toronto Maple Leafs were saddened to learn of the passing of one of the NHL’s all-time great coaches, Pat Quinn. FULL STORY
