TSN airs embarrassing tweet about Lupul and Phaneuf

Mar. 2, 2015: NHL Trade Deadline coverage can often be painful to watch. Today, TSN learned that sometimes headlines can be trumped by tweets from a viewer. TSN needed to issue an apology when an inappropriate tweet made it live to their #tradecentre ticker on the bottom of the screen. Anthony Adragna tweeted a comment about Toronto Maple Leafs players Joffrey Lupul and Dion Phaneuf. FULL STORY

Maple Leafs shutout for 7th time this season

Mar. 1, 2015: Carey Price continued his strong play for the Montreal Canadiens, as he and his team shutout the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. It was the seventh time this season that the Maple Leafs were shutout. Toronto’s road trip continues this evening as they travel to Washington to take on the Capitals in the weekly Hometown Hockey game. It is unclear how many players on the current roster will continue on with the team to south Florida as the NHL Trade deadline is Monday March 2nd at 3:00 pm. FULL STORY

Maple Leafs deliver uninspired effort in loss to Panthers

Feb. 17, 2015: Two weeks from tonight the NHL Trade Deadline will have come and gone. While the Toronto Maple Leafs may look very different on March 2nd, it was the same old, same old team tonight. The Leafs delivered yet another uninspired effort (except for the last 90 seconds) in a 3-2 loss against the Florida Panthers at the Air Canada Centre. FULL STORY

Maple Leafs Trade Watch: Kessel to Florida?

Feb. 16, 2015: TSN is reporting today that the Florida Panthers have interest in acquiring Phil Kessel from the Toronto Maple Leafs. The story says that “Florida Sun-Sentinal beat writer Harvey Fialkov tweeted Monday that the Panthers are not willing to part with a young stud to get him.” FULL STORY

Which ten Maple Leafs players or prospects would you build around?

Feb. 14, 2015: There have been multiple media reports including one in The Globe and Mail that indicates that Brendan Shanahan has been given the green light from Maple Leafs Sports Entertainment to conduct a major overhaul of the Toronto Maple Leafs. On the Maple Leafs website, the team lists a total of 35 forwards, 15 defencemen and two goaltenders on their Roster and In the System pages. I thought it would be a fun exercise to get varying opinions of which ten of these 55 players would you build the next generation of the Maple Leafs around. FULL STORY

Maple Leafs end season-killing skid, time to look to next year

Feb. 8, 2015: The Toronto Maple Leafs ended their 11 game losing streak last night with a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. This streak was the longest in team history, seeing the Buds go winless since January 9th when they beat the Columbus Blue Jackets. FULL STORY

Feb. 1, 2015: Lasalle, Ontario native Luke Wilson will attempt to win his second Super Bowl ring today as his Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patrioits in Super Bowl XLIX. Wilson was a later round pick by Seattle in April of 2013 and now has a chance to win his second Super Bowl in just his second NFL season. Wilson is a Villanova high school product and Essex Ravens product. FULL STORY

Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Rumours: Is Kessel untouchable?

Feb. 1, 2015: With the Toronto Maple Leafs in the midst of a nine game losing streak, there is a great deal of speculation that General Manager Dave Nonis and the Buds will be sellers before the March 5th NHL Trade Deadline. The Maple Leafs may want to get a jump on the other teams and start making moves sooner rather than later. FULL STORY

Maple Leafs: Unispiring effort results in ninth straight loss

Feb. 1, 2015: There was more excitement in the first five minutes and 22 seconds of the Oilers-Flames game than the entire sixty minutes in the Maple Leafs game last night. Despite out-shooting and out-chancing the Philadelphia Flyers, the Toronto Maple Leafs were handed their ninth straight loss as Steve Mason paced his squad to a 1-0 shutout win. FULL STORY
