Apr. 10, 2017: It is that time of year again. It is time for the NHL Playoffs, where 16 teams compete for the Stanley Cup, first team to win 16 games will capture hockey's holy grail. When my Dad was alive, he enjoyed running a playoff pool each season. Since his passing in 2008, his tradition has continued and we are ready to launch the 21st Annual Hometown Hockey Playoff Pool. The Spits now take a commanding 3-1 series lead with them into Game 5 Friday night at the Budweiser Gardens. Spitfires deliver a real ouchie to Generals

Feb. 9, 2017: It wasn’t the homecoming that Windsor business man and Oshawa Generals Owner Rocco Tullio was hoping for Thursday night. The Windsor Spitfires scored a lopsided 7-1 victory over the Gens in front of 4,936 fans at the WFCU Centre. With the win, Windsor improves to 20-3-1-0 on home ice in Canada’s south and Oshawa falls to .500 with an 11-11-3-2 road record FULL STORY

Hometown Hockey NHL Playoff Pool - register today

Apr. 10, 2016: It is that time of year again. It is time for the NHL Playoffs, where 16 teams compete for the Stanley Cup, poolies across the globe try to win some dough and the Toronto Maple Leafs work on their golf game. It is a tough time of year for us Leaf fans. When my Dad was alive, he enjoyed running a playoff pool each season. Since his passing in 2008, his tradition has continued and we are ready to launch the 20th Annual Hometown Hockey Playoff Pool. FULL STORY

Ellis' number six raised to rafters by Windsor Spitfires

Jan. 30, 2016: Tonight, the Windsor Spitfires raised the number six worn by Ryan Ellis to the rafters - the greatest honour a player can receive from his former team. His numbers rank him as the all-time leading scoring amongst defencemen in Spitfire history. In his introduction tonight, he was described as being the most decorated rearguard to ever don a Windsor jersey. FULL STORY

NHL Expansion Realignment Plan - Las Vegas and Quebec

Jul. 21, 2015: Last summer, I wrote an article about NHL Expansion and the alignment with the additions of teams in Seattle and Quebec City. This week, we have learned that the two front runners are Las Vegas, Nevada and a Quebecor bid to bring back the Quebec Nordiques. The National Football League is one of the most successful professional sports leagues in the world. Their format consists of two conferences, each with four divisions of four teams. FULL STORY

Ho Sang, Dal Colle - huge talents, different personalities

Jul. 13, 2015: Many have said that Garth Snow and the New York Islanders took a huge gamble when they traded up in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to snag Josh Ho Sang, then of the Windsor Spitfires. There is little doubt that Ho Sang has the natural ability to be a top six forward in the NHL. In his three seasons in the OHL, he has play 190 games, scored 63 goals and put up 210 points. On this Date - Sens select Bryan Berard first overall

Jul. 8, 2015: On this date in NHL history, at the NHL Draft in Edmonton, the Ottawa Senators made Bryan Berard the third American born player to be selected first overall in the Entry Draft. In a major trade during the 1995 NHL Draft in Edmonton, the Vancouver Canucks obtained Alexander Mogilny from Buffalo, in exchange for Mike Peca, Mike Wilson, and their #1 pick (Jay McKee) in the draft held that day.
