Hometown Hockey NHL Playoff Pool - register today

Apr. 10, 2016: It is that time of year again. It is time for the NHL Playoffs, where 16 teams compete for the Stanley Cup, poolies across the globe try to win some dough and the Toronto Maple Leafs work on their golf game. It is a tough time of year for us Leaf fans. When my Dad was alive, he enjoyed running a playoff pool each season. Since his passing in 2008, his tradition has continued and we are ready to launch the 20th Annual Hometown Hockey Playoff Pool. FULL STORY

Ellis' number six raised to rafters by Windsor Spitfires

Jan. 30, 2016: Tonight, the Windsor Spitfires raised the number six worn by Ryan Ellis to the rafters - the greatest honour a player can receive from his former team. His numbers rank him as the all-time leading scoring amongst defencemen in Spitfire history. In his introduction tonight, he was described as being the most decorated rearguard to ever don a Windsor jersey. FULL STORY

NHL Expansion Realignment Plan - Las Vegas and Quebec

Jul. 21, 2015: Last summer, I wrote an article about NHL Expansion and the alignment with the additions of teams in Seattle and Quebec City. This week, we have learned that the two front runners are Las Vegas, Nevada and a Quebecor bid to bring back the Quebec Nordiques. The National Football League is one of the most successful professional sports leagues in the world. Their format consists of two conferences, each with four divisions of four teams. FULL STORY

Ho Sang, Dal Colle - huge talents, different personalities

Jul. 13, 2015: Many have said that Garth Snow and the New York Islanders took a huge gamble when they traded up in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to snag Josh Ho Sang, then of the Windsor Spitfires. There is little doubt that Ho Sang has the natural ability to be a top six forward in the NHL. In his three seasons in the OHL, he has play 190 games, scored 63 goals and put up 210 points. On this Date - Sens select Bryan Berard first overall

Jul. 8, 2015: On this date in NHL history, at the NHL Draft in Edmonton, the Ottawa Senators made Bryan Berard the third American born player to be selected first overall in the Entry Draft. In a major trade during the 1995 NHL Draft in Edmonton, the Vancouver Canucks obtained Alexander Mogilny from Buffalo, in exchange for Mike Peca, Mike Wilson, and their #1 pick (Jay McKee) in the draft held that day. Winnipeg Whiteout, yet Jets wear blue?

Apr. 21, 2015: It was great to see NHL Playoff Hockey return to Winnipeg last night as the Winnipeg Jets played host to the Anaheim Ducks. Congrats to David Thompson, True North and the fans of Winnipeg. I remember watching Dale Hawerchuk play there in front of the infamous Winnipeg Whiteout - where fans all wear white for playoff games. FULL STORY

In an unscientific study, McDavid goes to the Buffalo Sabres

Apr. 17, 2015: This weekend will be a big weekend for the NHL TV ratings. On top of the excitement of the first round playoff games, there will also be the NHL Draft Lottery to see who will win the right to draft Erir Otters phenom Connor McDavid. Will it be the Buffalo Sabres, Ariozona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs or some other team? FULL STORY

Bald Eagle spotted on the way to school

Apr. 14, 2015: Each morning, Tristan and I travel west along Wyandotte Street on our way to his school. Last week, we spotted a Bald Eagle in the field behind the Riverside Sportsmen Club in Windsor. There has been a fair bit of media coverage of the eagles that can be spotted in this area. FULL STORY

Habs beat Maple Leafs, Phaneuf plays final game as a Leaf?

Apr. 12, 2015: The Toronto Maple Leafs finished their regular season last night with a 4-3 shootout loss against the Montreal Canadiens. Based on his comments to the media after the lopsided loss earlier in the week to the Columbus Blue Jackets, it appears that captain Dion Phaneuf has likely played his last game in a Leafs uniform.
