Stoney Point - April 12, 2015 - The Toronto Maple Leafs finished their regular season last night with a 4-3 shootout loss against the Montreal Canadiens. Based on his comments to the media after the lopsided loss earlier in the week to the Columbus Blue Jackets, it appears that captain Dion Phaneuf has likely played his last game in a Leafs uniform.

“I will talk at the end of the year about why we had problems this year and what went wrong,” Phaneuf told reporters Wednesday. “I’m not going to talk about it tonight. I’ll talk about Columbus and how we got beat there, but I’m not going to talk about the rest of the year until Monday.”

It is expected that the Maple Leafs will announce big changes on Monday.

Detroit, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Colorado, Edmonton and Dallas have all been rumoured destinations for the 29 year old Phaneuf.

Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist last night to complete a frustrating season. Rookie Casey Bailey notched his first NHL goal and Tyler Bozak scored his 23rd of the year. Montreal got goals from David Desharnais, Tomas Plekanec and Jacob De La Rose.

The Montreal Canadiens will play the hot Ottawa Senators in the first round of the Playoffs. The Toronto Maple Leafs will have a 9.5% chance of getting Connor McDavid in the draft lottery.

This afternoon will be filled with watching the Masters, which is kind of like Maple Leafs playoff hockey.

It will be an interesting week for Leafs Nation. Stay tuned!
