Originally talked about as the top defender available from the OHL this year, but several factors have caused Spencer to slip. Firstly, he didn't have a terrific year, which highlighted some current holes in his game. Secondly, some of the other defenders available from the 'O' had fantastic years and leapfrogged him. The race to the draft is on. We're about a week away from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, so that means it's time for me to release my rankings.

Burlington - Mar. 29, 2015: Leadership can be defined by the behaviour that brings the future to the present, by envisioning the possible, and persuading others to help you make it a reality. Peterborough Petes defenceman Matt Spencer has assumed this role with nearly every team he's ever suited up for. He served as the captain for the OHL Cup winning Oakville Rangers in his minor midget season. He wore an "A" for Team Ontario at the 2014 Under 17's. And he's recently been acting as an alternate for Peterborough since former captain Connor Boland was dealt to Sault Ste. Marie. This responsibility is something Spencer relishes. FULL STORY
Peterborough - Jul. 11, 2014: The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce that Jody Hull has been named Head Coach for Team Canada at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Under-18 Tournament to be held in Slovakia and the Czech Republic from August 11-16, 2014. Hull was initially named an Assistant Coach for the team in June, but following the Texas Stars’ hiring of Derek Laxdal, Hull has been promoted to U-18 Head Coach. FULL STORY
Peterborough - Apr. 5, 2014: The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce that they have selected Jonathan Ang with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection presented by State Farm, presented locally by SummerSkates. Ang is a 5’10”, 148 lbs right-handed Centre who played for the Markham Waxers in 2013-2014. In 33 games he recorded 28 goals and 14 assists for 42 points along with 3 points in two playoff games. Peterborough - Nov. 17, 2013: A pair of power play goals in a 1:44 span of the third period capped a wild, third period comeback as the Windsor Spitfires escaped the Peterborough Memorial Centre with a 5-4 win over the Petes Saturday night. Slater Koekkoek's point blast found its way in at 11:46 with Windsor (13-7-0-0) on a 5-on-3 advantage, before Josh Ho-Sang's 11th of the season gave the visitors a lead they wouldn't give back. Peterborough - Oct. 4, 2013: Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that defenseman Steven Trojanovic has been traded to the Guelph Storm. In return, the Petes will receive their own 2015 3rd round priority selection, which was originally dealt to Guelph in 2012.
Trojanovic, an over-ager from Burlington, has played in the Petes organization since the 2010-2011 season when he was acquired from the Windsor Spitfires. In his time with the Petes, Trojanovic has played in 158 games, scoring 18 goals and 43 assists along with 148 penalty minutes.
Peterborough - Oct. 3, 2013: Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that Goalie Scott Smith has committed to the Petes after signing a standard player agreement.
Smith was the 162nd overall selection by the Petes in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. Last season, Smith recorded 7 wins, 5 losses, and 4 ties in 16 games played with the Minor Midget Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs.
Peterborough - Oct. 1, 2013: Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that defenseman Clark Seymour was assigned to the Petes by the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier today. During the past month, Seymour, the Penguins 2012 fifth round draft pick, attended Penguins Main Camp as well as their AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins’ training camp this summer. Peterborough - Sep. 24, 2013: The Peterborough Petes announced today that defenseman Myles McGurty has been released from his try-out agreement.
McGurty played in three pre-season games for the Petes during the 2013-2014 season. The 19 year old from Weehawken, New Jersey previously played two seasons in the QMJHL, splitting time between Moncton, Acadie-Bathurst, and Chicoutimi.

Peterborough - Sep. 22, 2013: The Peterborough Petes defeated the Owen Sound Attack in a shoot-out on Saturday night. It was the first road game of the season for the Petes, and the first win for the squad. Jonatan Tanus scored the winning shoot-out goal, while Nick Ritchie added two assists as the Petes scoring leader on the night. FULL STORY
Owen Sound - Sep. 19, 2013: The Owen Sound Attack will kick off another exciting season at the Bayshore on Saturday when they play host to the Peterborough Petes in the Bruce Telecom Home Opener! All players, with the exception of Kurtis Gabriel and Chris Bigras are expected to be in the Attack line-up. Peterborough - Sep. 7, 2013: The Peterborough Petes announced this afternoon that two more players have been reassigned. Both Mitchell Burghardt and Rylee McKinnon were sent to the Cobourg Cougars. Peterborough - Sep. 1, 2013: Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that Steven Lorentz has committed to the Petes after signing a standard player agreement. Lorentz was the 226th overall selection by the Petes in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. This past season, Steven recorded 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points in 31 games with the Waterloo Wolves of the Alliance Hockey Midget AAA league.
Peterborough - Aug. 31, 2013: The Peterborough Petes 2013 East Side Mario’s Training Camp powered by CCM continued today with four inter-squad games. “Today was a great first day with the veterans leading by example and the younger players following close behind,” said Head Coach Jody Hull. “The play was physical and intense, and there was lots of scoring spread throughout the teams.” FULL STORY
Peterborough - Aug. 29, 2013: The Peterborough Petes completed the fitness testing portion of the 2013 East Side Mario’s Training Camp powered by CCM on August 28th at the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre. A total of 64 players in the Petes’ system took part in fitness testing. FULL STORY
Peterborough - Aug. 28, 2013: Single game ticket prices remain the same as the 2012-2013 season except for in the Family Zone. Family Zone tickets are now priced at $8 for kids 12 and under, and $12 for seniors, students, and adults.
“We’re pleased to be able to keep single game ticket prices consistent for the 2013-2014 season,” said Garfat. “It is our priority to ensure that Petes games are accessible to all fans and that we provide affordable family entertainment.
