Peterborough - April 5, 2014 - The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce that they have selected Jonathan Ang with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection presented by State Farm, presented locally by SummerSkates.

Ang is a 5’10”, 148 lbs right-handed Centre who played for the Markham Waxers in 2013-2014. In 33 games he recorded 28 goals and 14 assists for 42 points along with 3 points in two playoff games.

“Jonathan is an elite forward who possesses a ton of speed,” said Petes GM Mike Oke.

“As a player I think my skating and vision are my two biggest assets. I like to find players that are open and create offence,” said Ang. “I’m looking forward to increasing my size and strength to get ready to play in the OHL.”

He is described by OHL Central Scouting as “one of the elite skilled players in this year’s draft. He has the ability to turn it on and off whenever he wants to. He has been competing and going to the dirty areas on a more regular basis. Jonathan is very dangerous when he has the puck on his stick. He can beat you one-on-one as if you were standing still. He has very good vision as well and distributes the puck very well knowing he may not always get it back. Jonathan has a very good and accurate shot.”
