Windsor - October 17, 2013 - In conjunction with Autism Ontario Windsor Essex, Global Spectrum Facility Management announced the Adopt A Square program to assist with fundraising efforts for “Autism Awareness Month.” The mission of Autism Ontario to ensure that each individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder is provided the means to achieve quality of life as a respected member of society.

The “Puzzle Piece” is one of the most recognized symbols for autism, and Global Spectrum hopes to create the largest puzzle ribbon in the country on the weekend of October 25, 2013. The outdoor concrete patio outside the WFCU Centre will be transformed in to a patchwork of squares, and Global Spectrum is asking for the community to help complete the artwork during the performances of Sesame Street Live at the WFCU Centre on October 26 and 27.

Supporters can log on to www.wfcu-centre.com and make a donation to reserve their square, and over the weekend visit the WFCU Centre to colour their two foot by two foot reserved square. Donation amounts start at $10.00, and donations over $20.00 will receive a charitable donation receipt. Patrons not wishing to colour a square but still make a donation can do so online. Donations and reservations will also be accepted in person at the TekSavvy Box Office located inside Gate 2 of the WFCU Centre.

Supporters coming to the WFCU Centre for the four performances of Sesame Street Live on Saturday October 26th and Sunday October 27th will also have the opportunity to Adopt A Square and make a donation in person. Thanks to the generous support of our partners, all donors will also receive discount options for select shows coming to the WFCU Centre, the Windsor Spitfires, and the Windsor Express, plus a gift bag featuring products from Kernels Popcorn.

Local businesses are also encouraged to contact General Manager of Events Jason Toner to adopt multiple squares, and show their support for Autism Ontario. “This is a great opportunity for our facility and community partners to give back to a group in our community that definitely deserves the recognition” said Jason Toner, General Manager of Events with Global Spectrum Facility Management. “This is a great opportunity for the community to show their support, and help transform the outside of the WFCU Centre into a piece of art.”

In the event of inclement weather, the artwork project will move indoors. A press event will be held on Friday October 25th to kick start the project, with details to be released at a later date including special guests.
