Gypsy Release New CD “Now Playing”
When individual notes combine into melody, there is music. When inspired lyrics unite with a tune, there is song. When the alluring tease of unexpected sounds, unite with the masterful play of conventional instruments, and soulful vocals traverse a realm of possibilities, there is Gypsy.

Cornwall - May 1, 2012 - When individual notes combine into melody, there is music. When inspired lyrics unite with a tune, there is song. When the alluring tease of unexpected sounds, unite with the masterful play of conventional instruments, and soulful vocals traverse a realm of possibilities, there is Gypsy.

Cornwall based rock band Gypsy is releasing their second full-length CD titled "Now Playing" on May 5th at a CD Release Party at Lola's Pub on Pitt Street.

"Now Playing" offers a delightfully raunchy, rock n' roll sound. It showcases the four members' individual talents and personal musical influences across 12 original new songs.

"As with our first CD, we have funded the entire process ourselves, so I guess that makes us an indie band," says drummer Jim Sharp. "If I were to try and describe our style, I think I'd say we're eclectic, and proud of it."

Gypsy was formed in 2007, and 5 years later, the band’s line-up is still the same:

• Camil Lapointe : Guitars (Acoustic, Electric, Dobro) Vocals
• Christine Hickey : Keyboards, Cello, Flute, Accordion, Vocals
• Bobby Tessier: Bass, Vocals
• Jim Sharp: Drums, Vocals

"Smalltown Fables," the band's first CD, was released three years ago. The album engaged listeners with its unique blues, rock and soul influences.

From inception to release, "Now Playing" boasts of its Cornwall roots. Recording, producing, printing and photography all took place within the city, making use of local expertise. As further testament of the band's pride in their city, the CD cover photo was taken by local photographer Jason MacNamara at the Port Theater - a heritage and cultural landmark in Cornwall.

"We want to thank Rod Robillard and Steve Rombough at TKT Studios for all of their above and beyond work on the mixing and recording of NOW PLAYING," adds Jim Sharp. "Recording is always filled with stops and starts, but they made it as painless as possible."

All four band members make their living in Cornwall Ontario. Their daily lives are immersed in various careers, yet they have honed their sound by spending countless hours playing, writing and composing together. They have generously donated their musical talents for a variety of charitable functions and have worked in conjunction with other musicians to help support various causes.

The CD release party is set for Saturday, May 5 at 9:30pm at Lola’s Pub 616 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario.
