Cornwall - July 28, 2012 - The Agapè Center’s vision is to create a community where food is the foundation and eating well is the first step. Our mission is to reduce the impact of hunger and poverty in our community. We do this by providing food, clothing and household items for people in need, primarily through our soup kitchen, food bank and thrift shop. The Agapè Center relies 100% on donations of food, money, clothing, household items and time!

We have developed a new initiative for helping these families in need: the “Weeding out Hunger” Garden. In May, with the help of many volunteers, we planted just under an acre of vegetables.

All of this produce will be distributed to thousands of families in our food bank and used to prepare hundreds of meals daily in our soup kitchen.

We invite you to celebrate this great project and to help us raise funds for next year by joining us at our Harvest Dinner and Auction. The event will be held on August 24th, 2012 at 5pm at 949 Mohawk Drive. We will serve a buffet of fresh, local food and showcase some of our harvest. Along with dinner, we will be holding an auction.

Our auction theme is “All Things Food and Garden”. Some feature items are autographed cook books from celebrity chefs like Michael Smith and Janet and Greta Podleski, a new barbeque and many others.

We would love for you to be part of this exciting celebration. Tickets can be purchased online at www.weedingouthunger.eventbrite.com. All monies raised from this auction will be used to develop more edible land and expand our “Weeding out Hunger” garden in 2013.
