Email to Editor - 2014…..Election?
It would seem that most of the chattering class expect an election in Ontario this spring. Even most political junkies say there will be an election. Andrea Horwath waffles. I’m surprised by her position but I’m sure she has some reasons. Now Kathleen Wynne is building her election platform. More government, 10 cent additional gas tax, an Ontario pension plan, higher hydro rates. Please don’t laugh. Some people agree with her.

Cornwall - January 12, 2014 - It would seem that most of the chattering class expect an election in Ontario this spring.

Presently the Ontario government is spending a billion dollars per month MORE than revenues. And revenues are at an all time high. BUT Ms Wynne needs more!

The Liberals have promised Ottawa that gas tax collected in Ottawa will not be siphoned off to Toronto to pay for Toronto transit. What about the gas tax paid in Cornwall or Windsor or Barrie, or Sudbury? Most municipalities, the smaller ones get zero gas tax from the province. I’m sure that will continue. Zero for rural and northern Ontario.

Would you trust the Liberals to collect and manage an additional $450.00 per year of your money to be put aside for an Ontario pension plan? NOT ME! If the Ontario government had not screwed up the Hydro system so badly, maybe folks could save for their retirement themselves.

Looking back at the array of botched plans and spending the Liberals have presented Ontario with is frightening. eHealth, still not fully functional and now the cost is almost $3B. Bad management the cause. Presto cards, almost $750M, still not fully functional. Again bad management on the part of the Government. Ornge Air Ambulance, what a disaster. People died! No management oversight by the government. OPG executive excessive salaries bonuses and perks, once again zero government oversight. Bonuses to eHealth staff, well above the announced guide lines. Well taxpayers had to pay because the government signed contracts committing to these bonuses. More non-management.

Ontario is the leader in one area. JOB LOSSES! In December Ontario lost 39,000 jobs. That is 79.6% of all the job losses in Canada.

Now for the first time I can remember Ontario’s unemployment rate is higher than Quebec’s. Even under Bob Rae I don’t think that ever happened.

How can we eliminate the deficit if Ontario loses jobs every month?

Easy answer; get rid of the McGuinty/Wynne Liberals.

I hope Ms Horwath says this is more than enough and forces an election.
