Cornwall - June 23, 2014 - The Cornwall Motor Speedway would like to provide clarifications on the events that occurred during the June 22nd Mini-Stock feature race.

Competitor Danny Lefebvre of St-Louis-de-Gonzague, Quebec was in competition for first position with two other competitors when his car went off the speedway in the backstretch and hit the cement wall. After several minutes of care by the rescue team, the driver was transported to the hospital where his death was confirmed during the evening.

Lefebvre was a very competitive driver in the Mini-Stock ranks; it was his first presence this season. In 2013, Danny had a strong season, getting good results on every Sunday night as he finished only 3 points behind track champion Mike Gaucher. Driving his #05 mount, he was also a contender 2 years ago as he finished in 7th place in the championship race.

The Lavergne family along with the entire Cornwall Motor Speedway staff would like extend their deepest condolences to the family and several friends that Danny had around him. Our thoughts and prayers go to everyone related to Danny as the racing community mourns this big loss and will be remembered in fashion at the speedway.
