Mild weather forces cancellation of pond hockey tournament
The mild weather has prompted organizers of the South Stormont Pond Hockey Tournament to cancel the Saturday activities.

Ingleside - Feb. 17, 2011 - The sudden mild weather may be welcome news for those who are fed up with winter, but it isn't welcome news for the organizers of the South Stormont Pond Hockey Tournament.

Due to the unseasonably warm weather conditions leading up to the tournament at Farran Park in Ingleside, all of the events that were scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled.

"We just don't feel there will be enough cold weather and time to safely prepare the ice for hockey games," event spokesperson Kevin Amelotte tells OurHometown.ca.

Fortunately, not all is lost. The Pond Hockey Bash on Friday (at the Lancer Community Centre in Ingleside) is still taking place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with live entertainment from The Possee.
